JCCF Release Destinations
Jackson County Correctional Facility is an adult county jail run by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. A person can leave it through several distinct routes. Bond, recognizance, dismissal, completion of a local term, or another court-authorized order may return the person to the community. Community control can follow, which is a court sentence served under local conditions rather than in jail.
Other departures keep custody intact. The sheriff states that male offenders committed to Ohio prison are transported to the Correction Reception Center in Orient. Another county, state, federal, or immigration authority could also receive someone when a hold or warrant controls. The sheriff's official materials do not establish JCCF as an ICE or USMS contract facility, so those paths should be used only when the jail record or case supplies a real transfer clue.

A transfer is not a release to the community. That distinction is the core of every JCCF search.
Confirm a JCCF Release
The sheriff does not publish an official current-inmate roster or rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. No sheriff mobile roster app was verified either. The Access Corrections app linked from the jail page is for putting funds in a current inmate's account, not for release searches. Direct confirmation must therefore lead.
- Call JCCF at 740-288-1338. Ask whether the named person remains there and, if not, whether departure was community release or transfer.
- Search Jackson County Municipal Court for its cases and Common Pleas for felony matters. Read bond, disposition, sentence, and signed order entries.
- Request the existing booking/release record. Ask for the effective date and time, release authority, released-by field, and receiving agency.
- If prison commitment appears, search ODRC by offender number or name and compare identity data before reading the status.
- Use BOP or ICE only if an actual federal or immigration case or transfer indicates that route.

JCCF Release Records Contact
The public contact address differs from the inmate-mail address, and the distinction must be preserved. Sheriff Tedd E. Frazier's contact page uses 350 Portsmouth Street for the office and correctional facility. The jail page directs inmate mail to 372 Portsmouth Street. A public-record request should use the office address and Attn: Public Records Request, not the inmate-mail route.

Records custodian Kendra Davis accepts email at kdavis@jacksonso.org. Requests may also be made in person, by mail, fax, phone, or through the official form. Postal requesters seeking mailed return should include a self-addressed stamped envelope. The sheriff reports immediate acknowledgment and a completion range from immediate to as much as 14 days after review. No set JCCF release-record fee is published, so ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate.

JCCF Release Record Fields
An authentic Jackson County Sheriff's Office booking sheet preserved in an Ohio Attorney General record has boxes labeled release date, release time, and released by. It also includes booking number, jail ID, arrest data, identifiers, physical description, and an earliest out date. The form proves that local release fields existed on the exhibited sheet. It does not establish that every current or historical booking contains complete entries.

Ask for the booking sheet or jail jacket tied to a named booking. Separately request the reason or authority and transfer destination because the exhibited face sheet does not prove all facts appear in one box. If any part is withheld, seek the exemption citation and available nonexempt portions.
A booking photograph should be requested as a separate item tied to the same booking. ODRC may display a different offender photo only if the person later entered the state system.
JCCF Release Court Checks
The jail page itself directs readers to local court systems for charges, bail, bond, and case status. Municipal Court covers matters within its jurisdiction and offers CaseLook. Its online disclaimer warns that data may trail court action by at least 24 hours, and perhaps more. That lag means the jail phone is stronger for a same-day custody question.
Common Pleas handles felony cases. Its docket can show a prison sentence, jail-time credit, community control, a judicial-release motion, or a later order. CourtView updates every 24 hours except weekends and legal holidays and is current only through the last business day. Search by name or case number, not both. A journal entry supplies the legal context, while JCCF supplies the physical release or transfer time.

JCCF Prison Transfer Destination
The sheriff publishes one concrete state-prison path: male offenders transported to prison go to the Correction Reception Center in Orient. Orient is in Pickaway County, not Jackson County. No female intake destination is stated in the researched JCCF source, so none should be inferred.
When a Common Pleas sentence commits a person to prison, check the ODRC Offender Search. Search by the A, R, or W offender number when known, or use name and County of Commitment = Jackson. An Incarcerated result confirms that county jail departure was not community release. Released or APA Supervision reflects a later state status, not the original JCCF exit.
Note: ODRC's expected release or parole eligibility field is prospective and must not be reported as a completed release.
JCCF Transfers and Jail Project
Jackson County's recent jail history makes transfer tracing vital. County commissioners approved a Monroe County jail-housing contract in April 2025 and jail services with Fayette County in December 2025. Those dated acts do not prove that a particular person entered either jail, and they do not establish that the same terms remain in force. They do show why departure from JCCF cannot be assumed to be freedom.
Ask the jail or records custodian for the receiving agency, destination, and transfer time. Then check the named receiver. This is more reliable than searching neighboring jail lists without a record-based reason.
A separate future-facility project also needs careful wording. An official Ohio House announcement says $32 million was awarded for a new Jackson County jail, and commissioners created a fund for a state award described as regional jail construction. The sources reviewed do not establish that a new regional jail is open. JCCF remains the one verified adult detention facility in the current Jackson County map.
JCCF Fees and Release Property
JCCF publishes a $20 booking fee plus a $2 entry-pack fee. Its jail page says current inmates must pay those charges before ordering commissary. The source does not explain an unpaid balance after release. It would be inaccurate to turn that statement into a post-release collection or pay-to-stay rule.
No official release exit, standard release time, waiting area, ride policy, gate payment, or jail personal-property return procedure was found. For an imminent release, call JCCF and ask when and where to meet the person and how their property will be returned. The sheriff separately names a contact and form for impounds and release of evidence, but that is not the jail property process.
JCCF Custody Scope
JCCF serves the local criminal process and county-jail custody handled by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. It is not an ODRC prison, federal prison, or confirmed ICE detention center. The county map did not establish a separate city jail or other adult detention operation within Jackson County.
Those limits decide which official locator applies. Call JCCF and read the local court record for a local booking. Use ODRC after a state commitment. Use BOP for a supported federal prison case and ICE ODLS only for a supported immigration path. The agency that last held the person owns the most direct status record.
